Was it worth losing my job for a Glastonbury ticket?

Hands up if you ever got fired for going to Glastonbury…*

In my defence, it was 2003 and after a long period of huge uncertainty, I was newly hired in a job that I knew was probably a filler, so when it came to choosing to complete my probation period over an Ebay win on Glasto tickets with my new boyfriend (now husband and father of our two teens) - it was a no brainer.

So I was fired on the spot. 

And actually, after the shock, I felt OK with it.

Because, sometimes a once in a lifetime opportunity comes out of nowhere and just sometimes you need to have the conviction to follow your heart.

And every time I look at the line up, I’m so bloody glad I went!

*For the avoidance of doubt, this was the one and only time I’ve ever been fired.
